According to the Constitution of South and Southeast Asian University Network, Yanshan University (China) has been accepted as the member of South and Southeast Asian University Network.

Introduction

Yanshan University (YSU) can be traced back to Harbin Institute of Technology founded in 1920. As a national key university, it was originally known as Northeast Heavy Machinery Institute. Starting from 1985, it began  to relocate southward to Qinhuangdao city and completed the migration in  1997, and then in the same year, it was accredited to adopt the present name of Yanshan University. YSU campus covers an area of 267 hectares with a  floor space of 1.25 million square meters. It has 40,000 students and 3,200 faculty and staff members.

The  University  has  3  academicians  of  the  Chinese  Academy  of Sciences, 11 postdoctoral research stations, 14 doctoral degree programs in first-level disciplines, 2 types of professional doctoral degrees, 5 national key disciplines, 16 provincial key disciplines and 4 disciplines listed in the global top 1% of ESI, including engineering, materials science, chemistry and computer science.

In 2016, as one of the two universities selected by the Ministry of Education of China, YSU received assessment on the national accreditation of its engineering majors by international experts under the Washington Accord, supporting China's formal entry into the international engineering education organization under the Washington Accord. So far, YSU has established cooperative relationships with over 100 top universities and research institutions in more than 30 countries and regions.
