The second Frontiers in International (South and Southeast Asia) Communication Theory and Research Methods Graduate Summer School was held in Kunming from Aug 13 to 21.

The summer school is jointly sponsored by the Journalism School of Yunnan University (also known as the College of International Communication of South and Southeast Asia), the Journalism and Communication Faculty of Communication University of China, and the Journalism and Communication Sub-committee of South and Southeast Asian University Network. It aims to strengthen the development of an international communication academic system with Chinese characteristics and deepen communication and exchange within the international communication academic community.

To aid China's international communication capacity building in the new era, the summer school is expected to continue exporting outstanding news talent who can master new theories and new methods, establish an interdisciplinary and trans-regional academic community, better promote international communication research and practice, and serve national and social development.

The opening ceremony for the school was held on Aug 13, and nearly 200 students from 34 universities participated both online and offline.

The ceremony lasted nine days and 34 well-known experts and scholars from China and overseas were invited to give lectures and participate in exchange activities on cutting-edge theories, practical issues and mainstream cutting-edge methods in international communication.

Through lectures by experts and scholars and discussions among students, the research and theoretical abilities of young scholars, doctoral and postgraduate students in the field of international communication have been improved, research paths have been expanded, research horizons have been broadened, research methods have been improved, and contributions have been made to the establishment of an international communication academic community.
