The South and Southeast Asian University Network (S&SE Asian UN) launched its inaugural student exchange program from March to July 2026, welcoming an undergraduate student from CamEd Business School in Cambodia to study accounting at Yunnan University (YNU)'s School of Business Administration and Tourism Management.
Throughout the semester-long program, the exchange student attended classes alongside YNU students, experiencing the university's instructional model and academic atmosphere. Focusing on regular, full-semester training rather than short-term visits, the program enabled the student to complete studies, participate in seminars, and engage in immersive cultural experiences, achieving solid academic growth while enhancing cross-cultural independent living and communication skills.
The School of Business Administration and Tourism Management spearheaded and implemented the program, coordinating every stage from curriculum articulation and academic advising to daily administration and logistical support. By ensuring well-organized teaching arrangements, comprehensive student services, and prompt resolution of academic and personal concerns, the school provided robust support for the program's smooth execution and success.
The program represents a key initiative for S&SE Asian UN to deepen international educational cooperation and foster people-to-people exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative. Based on the student exchange agreement signed between the two institutions and guided by the principle of reciprocity, the inter-university exchange program facilitates the sharing and integration of high-quality educational resources. This not only implements cooperative mechanisms for mutual recognition of curricula and credits, but also lays a solid foundation for deeper collaboration in faculty exchange, joint scientific research, and other fields.
The program's conclusion serves as a vivid example of innovation in inter-university cooperation models. By establishing a transnational learning platform, both universities have integrated educational philosophies and exchanged best practices in talent development, exploring new avenues to advance higher education internationalization and cultivate versatile talents with a global perspective. Seizing this cooperation as an opportunity, YNU will continue to expand its partnership network with higher education institutions in ASEAN countries and contribute to the friendship and exchanges between Chinese and Cambodian youth.
